Tundra

Tundra 1

Congratulations Tundra!!

Tundra is a friendly, red and white Siberian puppy that is 6.5 months
old. He is the new kid on the block and we are enjoying getting to
know him. He came into rescue when the other dogs in his home did not
get along with the little fellow. Tundra was fine with them, but they
wanted no part of a puppy. It was a heartbreaking decision, but it
was felt best that Tundra come into rescue and find a new home where
he would be happy and safe.
Tundra is an extremely affectionate boy, he loves to crawl in you lap
and cuddle with you. At this time he is rather shy with rest of the
rescue pups, but we see his personality emerging as he gets to know
his canine friends.
Tundra will be in rescue for a minimum of two weeks so we can get to
know him and be better able to place him in a wonderful home suited
for him. Stay tune for updates!

In Memory of Callie

June 25-2014

It is with utter disbelief and devastation that I share Callie is
gone. May she Dance among the stars and wear her silver harness proudly. We will miss you sweet girl.

Callie is a special girl ~ we tell her that each and every day. Callie is an epileptic and suffers from severe, multiple (cluster) seizures. She came into rescue when she was only a ten-month-old puppy and had been suffering from seizures shortly after birth. Her family was unable to provide the medication and environment necessary to monitor this little girl.

Medications have lessened the frequency of Callie’s seizures, however, she continues to have grand mal seizures several times a year. Callie is a happy girl, however, the violent seizures have taken their toll and she has suffered neurological damage. She remains an active and silly Siberian, however, will stumble often or fall over when just standing and has a slight delay in reacting. This doesn’t slow our special one down a bit!

Callie is now four years old and has become a permanent member of the MaPaw family. She delights us in her antics and we celebrate each seizure-free day. She is in a foster home where she can be monitored closely and has a wonderful canine neurologist, Dr. Jerry Northington of Metropolitan Veterinary Associates.

We have learned so much from Callie ~ never feel sorry for yourself, enjoy life to it’s fullest and pick yourself up when you fall. We are so happy we are able to care for her and provide her with a safe and happy life.

UPDATE FERUARY 2014
Callie is now 8 years old and has been in our rescue for seven years. We are so happy to share the news that she has been seizure-free since October 2010 – great job Callie!!In 2013 she had one seizure and is back to her old self. She is presently on Zonisamide (9 per day) and we are so happy it is helping her. She remains our happy, goofy girl that makes everyone smile and she is loved by all of the dogs. She has claimed the large (unused) fireplace in the MaPaw office as her day “crate” so we accommodate her with large fluffy comforters (no woodstove for us!) Please send sibe vibes that Callie continues to be seizure free and the medication continues to work for her.

In Memory of Nala

In Memory of Nala

6/23/14 – Today was a sad day at the farm. God saw that she was getting tired, and a cure was not meant to be. So he put his arms around her, and whispered “come with me”. With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and watched her fade away. Although we loved her dearly we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, and a warm loving heart to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, that he only takes the best. Godspeed sweet girl, wear your silver harness proudly.

Krinkle

Age: 6-8 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Average
imageKrinkle 2~Congratulations Krinkle!
Krinkle is a black and white, blue eye husky that is sure to melt your heart. He was found, dirty and alone, wandering the streets. We will never know his past. We do know we will give him a better future.
Krinkle is estimated to be 6 – 8 years old. He came in very, very thin. He was named Krinkle because one ear is crinkled and flat to his body. This certainly doesn’t slow our brave boy down; he enjoys playing with other dogs and begs for attention.
Krinkle is up for adoption to the right home. If not adopted, we will happily spoil him as a permanent guest of MaPaw. We are getting to know this guy and look forward to telling you more.

Elsa

Elsa 1Elsa 2

Congratulations Elsa!!

Elsa is a pretty grey and white whooly (long haired) Siberian Husky
with dancing blue eyes. This three year old girl is active and loves
to play. She plays well with all of the huskies. She is a bit more
mellow than the younger pups and after exercise she loves to cuddle
and have quality time with her humans.
Elsa loves car rides, walks in the fields and doing just about
anything she can be included in. She came to us as a stray, so we
don’t know her past life before joining us. We do know the future is
bright for this young girl!

Bella (3)

Bella3-2Bella3-3

Congratulations Bella!!

Bella is a classic black and white, blue eye Siberian who just wants to have fun! This 1 year old girl is still a pup and has a high energy level. She is very popular with the other huskies and loves to play with all the dogs. Bella was welcomed into MaPaw when her mom became ill and could not take care of her. It was a sad day for all, but Bella’s welfare came first and she is fitting in very well. Due to Bella’s age and energy level her perfect forever home would be one with another active companion her size ~ no small dogs or cats please.Bella3-1 She will be best in a home with a sturdy 6 foot fence to play in and stay safe and sound. She would also benefit being in an active home ~ A good husky is a tired husky! If you are interested in a high energy, very smart young Siberian to keep you on your toes, please contact us about Bella.

Fred

Fred
Fred2

Congratulations Fred!!

Fred is a 6 month puppy that is full of life! True to the breed he is an active, mischievous and loveable little guy. He sure is cute and there is a good reason for that ~ mischief just looks for Fred!

Fred will require another medium to large dog to play with in a sturdy, tall fence to keep him safe and sound. His prior family loved him dearly, but as an only dog he was not able to get all of that puppy energy out. A tired husky is a good husky!

Fred will need a family that has large dog experience and preferably Siberian savvy. Fred needs continued training so he will grow up as a wonderful companion. A sense of humor is also needed and patience to teach Fred manners i.e. dishes in the sink are not up for grabs and when the refrigerator is opened it is not polite to snag food off the bottom shelf.

Fred is a great pup that is has much love to give and has a great potential. He loves other dogs and especially people. If you are up for the husky puppy challenge, have time and patience and are looking for a long-term commitment, please consider Fred!

Ghost

~Congratulations Ghost!!

Ghost 3

Ghost is a handsome and friendly 7 month old Malamute. He came into
rescue when his current family could no longer keep him. Ghost is now
looking for his third and forever home.
Ghost is a recent guest and we are learning more about him each day.
He is a smart boy and gets along with others. He absolutely loves
attention and fancies himself as a lapdog.
Although Ghost is a big boy, he is still very much a puppy. He will
benefit from a home that has another active canine companion to tire
him out and a fenced in yard to play in. His ideal family will be
Malamute or large dog savvy. Please feel free to contact us, we would
love to tell you more!

Max was a victim of divorce and was left behind. A wonderful Good Samaritan contacted us about this little boy and he promptly was signed over to our care. He has been delighting us ever since.
Max is working on his big-boy commands and is ready for a forever home where his training can continue. Due to his high energy, Max will best be in an active home. If you are ready for the husky puppy challenge, please contact us about Max!

Harvey

Age: 4 months
Sex: Male
Size: Puppy
Harvey

Harvey is a four month old puppy full of life, love and curiosity. True to his breed, he is high energy and will need an active home, preferably with another canine playmate and a fenced yard to chase and play in.
Harvey is a smart boy ~ he knows sit and is working on his basic commands. He is crate trained and is 95% housebroken. He loves to play with the other huskies until he finally tires out and then he is content to curl up for a nap, preferably in someone’s lap.
Harvey will need to go to a home that will have time and patience to continue his training and manners. In turn, this sweet baby will be a loyal and friendly companion for many years to come.
