Spencer is an approximate one to two years old, cream colored Siberian who has had a rotten start to life. His young life was spent chained as a "junkyard" dog; mostly with no food, no water and no shelter. He was so covered with dirt and grime and severely matted that there was no choice but to shave him down. When he arrived at the shelter, his hope for a second leash on life began.

Due to his extreme shyness, Spencer was not a good candidate to be adopted out. He needed to come into rescue where he could learn trust again, where he could learn what it is like to be a loved companion and pet. He needed to know that people could be good.

Spencer was terrified when his foster mom brought him home. He did like the blanket in the crate though, he probably never had one before. He likes his new boy and his foster mom and is already looking for attention. Spencer also likes food, which is a good thing as we start to work on much needed weight.

We will be taking baby steps with Spencer, but already he appears to be seeing his foster family and home as positive improvements in life. He is becoming less timid and more trusting. Time, lots of patience and love will bring out the sweet sibe Spencer should have always been… if he had only had a chance.

Please check back to see Spencer's progress and to cheer him on. When he is ready, we will find him a wonderful home!

UPDATE:
Spencer has improved by leaps and bounds, both physically and emotionally. Our now-handsome boy is the smiling Siberian he was meant to be. His coat has grown in thick and soft and he has learned to trust again.

Spencer is still a little hesitant with strangers, but quickly warms up. Trips to his boy's soccer games have helped him learn that most people are nice and he enjoys their attention and affection. He is trustworthy in the house and a little low-key for a youngster. He has learned to appreciate the finer things in life, and is happiest when he is relaxing on the humans bed ~ on the pillows of course!

We are very proud of Spencer. He has come a long way with the help of a lot of TLC. Now he is ready to be part of a home that will love him and spoil him and make up for lost time.
