Nokona is a young male husky that has had a rough life, but thanks to a kind-hearted new friend he has gotten a second chance on the life he so deserves. Nokona was allowed to wander from his original home time and time again. Finally, he became a guest at the county shelter and the owners decided not to claim him. This handsome husky was placed up for adoption when it was discovered that he was positive for heartworms, an easily preventable condition that is expensive to treat. That's when Nokona's luck began to change. His kind-hearted new friend had fallen in love with Nokona, but couldn't keep him. He donated the funds for Nokona's necessary procedure and alerted rescue to this wonderful dog in need.
Nokona is now recuperating in his foster home with MaPaw and is enjoying family life and lots of attention. His new name is Comanche for "traveler" and we are so happy his travels led him to our rescue and care.
This handsome bi-eyed (one blue and one brown) boy is doing well and gaining back the weight he lost. As you can see, life was a little rough for Kona for a while, but he is bouncing back and will soon be fully recovered. You just can't keep a good dog down! His coat is coming back in thick and shiny and he is making himself the perfect guest with his new foster home. He is a polite boy who enjoys any type of attention. Once Kona is fully recovered he will be looking for his forever home, one that will care enough to keep him safe and sound.
