Nokona is a young male husky that has had a rough life, but thanks to a kind-hearted new friend he has gotten a second chance on the life he so deserves. Nokona was allowed to wander from his original home time and time again. Finally, he became a guest at the county shelter and the owners decided not to claim him. This handsome husky was placed up for adoption when it was discovered that he was positive for heartworms, an easily preventable condition that is expensive to treat. That's when Nokona's luck began to change. His kind-hearted new friend had fallen in love with Nokona, but couldn't keep him. He donated the funds for Nokona's necessary procedure and alerted rescue to this wonderful dog in need.

Cyrus is full of Siberian spirit and energy. When we first met Cyrus he was pulling the shelter staff down the hall on his lead. He was turned in for being a bit too much for his owners to handle, a common husky problem with exuberant youngsters. He would get very excited when seeing other dogs and people. Overall, we found him to be a very good boy who needed training and time to regain his confidence. Cyrus is now settling in with his foster family and fast learning canine manners and basic obedience.

Christie is a White German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix. The life that has been hers for the past 13 years is no longer. Her Daddy now terminally ill and her Mommy not able to care for her, poor Christie found herself at the local shelter. Meet Vandal, a wonderful, laid-back seven-year-old Siberian whose foster mom describes as a "Siberian throw rug". He is a perfect houseguest with no demands and loves any attention he can get. We call him Van, a much nicer name for such a nice dog that has won all of our hearts. We find it hard to believe, but Van was turned into a high volume, center city shelter where his future was in jeopardy.

We welcomed Van into Rescue and scheduled a vet visit to have the big guy checked over and neutered. It was a sad day when we learned Van had tumors that were later determined to be cancer. This gentle boy really needed our help! After surgery an appointment was scheduled with an oncologist and after a consult, ultrasound and x-rays we were given the hope we all desperately wanted - with chemotherapy Van had excellent odds of survival!

Many thanks to everyone who sent well wishes for this sweet pup. Biloxi is a five-month-old puppy whose pelvis and femur were fractured when he was struck by a vehicle. He was abandoned on the doorstep of a vet and taken to a shelter in Mississippi where his injuries began to mend improperly. Thanks to the generosity of many, we were able to pull Biloxi and bring him up to Pennsylvania for required care and surgery.
